Email Server Settings in Contactulator
Instead of trying to use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express to send messages, Contactulator includes it's own email client that connects directly to your server. This has two advantages. First, it allows the program to control how quickly it sends out messages, to avoid flooding your server with messages. Secondly, it allows the program to process failed addresses, so that you can easily correct or remove failed addresses.
SMTP Server Settings
An SMTP Server is a program running somewhere that knows how to deliver internet mail.
The settings you need to know are:
| Server Name | Something like relay.example.com. Check with your ISP |
| Port | 25 is the port normally used for SMTP, but sometimes 2525. |
| Server Needs Authorization | Tick this box if your server needs you to enter your password |
| User Name | If you need authorization to send email, enter your user name in this field. |
| Max Recipients | 25 by default. Many SMTP servers limit you to 100 recipients per message. This controls the size of the batch that is sent at once. The larger this number is, the fewer times the body of the message must be sent. |
| Max Recipients per Minute | Some ISPs do not allow you to send email too quickly. This field allows you to control how quickly messages are sent from your computer. |
Address Settings
Contactulator also allows you to control the look of your address. The table below details how these fields are used.
| Name | This is the name shown on the From Field |
| The email address that your contacts should use to reply to you. | |
| Organization | The name of your organization |
